Sunday Mornings at 10 a.m.
Join us for Sunday worship in the Sanctuary at Union Church of Lake Bluff. We begin with a children’s time, followed by sharing our joys and concerns, and hearing the word of God. Children depart for Sunday school after the children’s time of worship. On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate communion together. At the Union Church our table is open to all who would like to participate in communion!
On the Bluff at Sunrise Park
On five Sundays during the summer, we meet for Sunday worship at Sunrise Park on the bluff overlooking Lake Michigan to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of summer. All are welcome to attend, including well-behaved pets.
Join us each month for a special Taizé service held at 7pm. Check the calendar for specific Taizé service dates.
For those new to this unique form of musical prayer, a few notes of introduction may be helpful. Taizé services include times for song; the songs as a series of prayers, rather than as hymns. Each chant is repeated many times over. The hope is that you will find the repetition helpful, not only to learn the chant, but to allow it to become a prayer of your heart. And also a time for silence; this is a service in which time is suspended. Do not be anxious about knowing what to do next or when to do it. Silence is a central part of the service and a gift to many of us in this busy world. Allow the silence to be a vehicle in which you can speak to God about what is in your heart. More importantly, allow God to speak to you. Each service includes a chance to respond to God’s presence, either by candle lighting, walking the labyrinth, creating a sand mandala or receiving a blessing.
