Worship is held every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. All ages spend the beginning of each service together as a church family. After the children’s sermon – always an entertaining highlight of every Sunday – the children go downstairs for their own worship time and Sunday School.
On any given Sunday, you will hear a variety of music provided by our members. Whether it’s the choir, or Union Folk, or volunteers from the congregation, we enjoy music in all forms as an important part of our worship.
The sharing of joys and concerns is another important part of our worship together. Because we are a smaller, more intimate congregation, folks tend to share honestly during this time. We have been known to laugh and cry all in the same few minutes. Mark then blends those joys and concerns into a prayer.
Following worship, we gather together for coffee hour and the opportunity to connect with each other a little more.
We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of every month.
If the weather is beautiful, we worship outside in the courtyard. This beautiful setting is a “garden of memories,” in honor of members who have profoundly shaped our church’s life.
Special services occur throughout the year. These include Kickoff Sunday, the beginning of our programming year in September; Hanging of the Greens, which marks the beginning of Advent; The Longest Night, on which we recognize that Christmas can be a hard time for those who are carrying loss and grief into Christmas; Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of Lent; and Maundy Thursday, remembering the Last Supper that Jesus shared with his disciples.
Of course, our candlelight service on Christmas Eve and our Easter Service are highlights of the worship year.
