Minister to Families (03/26)

We are looking for a full-time energetic minister with a vibrant, growing relationship with Jesus and who feels called to creating a meaningful faith community where kids and teens can learn and grow together. While a Master of Divinity (or equivalent degree) and prior experience in children’s and/or youth ministry are preferred, our highest priority is finding someone who shares our congregational values and mission, and who can collaborate with us on fresh, creative ideas for revitalizing ministry for all ages at the Union Church of Lake Bluff. Other qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead volunteers and build ministry programs

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Experience and comfort with the flexibility that working in a smaller church environment often requires

Responsibilities Include:

Youth Ministry (Grades 6–12)

  • Build a dynamic ministry that helps middle and high school students grow in faith and friendship.

  • Lead weekly faith-building opportunities for middle school and high school students

  • Plan service projects, retreats, and additional events that invite students to experience God in new ways, including our annual Work Trip and confirmation classes for 7th graders.

Children’s Ministry (Birth–5th Grade)

  • Equip and support Sunday School teachers with curriculum, training, and supplies in cooperation with the Christian Education Committee.

  • Organize special events (for example: Vacation Bible School, Parent’s Night Out, and educational workshops) with volunteers.

Volunteer & Leadership Development

  • Recruit and equip volunteers who feel called to work with children and youth.

  • Encourage leadership development in both students and adults.

Church Presence

  • Be a visible presence on Sundays, engaging with families before and after worship.

  • Lead Children’s Moment during Sunday worship and work with the senior pastor to intentionally build an intergenerational church

  • Collaborate with Board of Trustees, Board of Elders, and senior pastor to steward ministry budgets and church vision.
