Rachel Mumaw-Schweser, UCLB Senior Pastor
Rachel Mumaw-Schweser began her ministry as Senior Pastor of the Union Church of Lake Bluff on September 28th, 2025 and we are grateful to welcome her into our church community. She brings genuine energy, deep empathy, and thoughtful leadership, along with a strong alignment with UCLB’s “Come As You Are” vision and mission. Known for her emotional intelligence, wisdom, and clear, compassionate communication, Rachel listens deeply and fosters meaningful connection. With this foundation, she is helping to build a strong and welcoming sense of community as she leads UCLB into the future.
Background/Education:
Rachel Mumaw-Schweser grew up in Portland, OR. After spending eight years in Dallas, she graduated from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University with a Masters in Divinity, as well as a BA in Human Rights and a BS in Biology. Along the way, Rachel has also worked with children, youth, and college students at places like UKirk at SMU, Synergy Wesley at the University of Texas at Dallas, and Ash Lane Methodist Church in Euless, Texas. Before coming to UCLB, she completed a pastoral residency program at Second Baptist Church in Liberty, Missouri.

A few fun facts to help you get to know Rachel on a personal level: She is married to Noah, who works remotely as a software engineer for Generac. She’s a proud Star Trek fan (sorry, Star Wars!), and shares her home with two cats, Andromeda and Cassiopeia, better known as Andy and Cassie. Rachel loves playing board games, especially Azul, and is an avid Dungeons and Dragons player alongside her husband. Her favorite craft is crocheting. Her favorite book is “The Book Thief,” and when it comes to tea, cinnamon is her top pick. She’s also a fan of snickerdoodle cookies, and Christmas is her favorite holiday.
